colourless, transparent oily liquid, b.p.282°C, freezing point 0°C, refractive index 1.516(20°C).
Soluble with various cellulosic resins, rubbers, ethylenic resins giving a good film-forming, adhesion and water-proofing properties.
Extensively used as solvent for producing methyl-ethyl ketone peroxide, flurocontaining anticorrosive coatings.
Plasticizer for resins of cellulose acetate.
Ingredient of mosquito-expellant, intermediate for organic synthesis etc..
