Trypsin cleaves peptides on the C-terminal end of lysine and arginine amino acid residues. The optimum pH of trypsin is pH 7.0-9.0. The enzyme is inhibited by serine protease inhibitors, e.g. PMSF , aprotinin, soybean trypsin inhibitor and by metal chelating agents, e.g.EDTA.It is typically isolated from the pancreas of animals.Animal-derived materials are now subject to more strigent regulations, as authorities strive to ensure safer biologics and pharmaceuticals, such as in insulin and vaccine production. Recombinant porcine trypsin is a genetically engineered protein expressed in E.coli and purified by high pressure liquid chromatography. Recombinant trypsin is expressed as active protease , with equivalent properties compared to native trypsin .It is manufactured under NSF ISO 9001-2008 and in accordance to good manufacturing practice (GMP) guidelines.No animal derived products are used in the fermentation, purification, or final formulation.
